Exploring Radar Micro-Doppler Signatures for Recognition of Drone Types

چکیده

In this study, we examine the use of micro-Doppler signals produced by different blades (i.e., puller and lifting blades) to aid in radar-based target recognition small drones. We categorize drones into three types based on their blade types: fixed-wing with only blades, multi-rotor hybrid vertical take-off landing (VTOL) both blades. quantify radar signatures using statistical measures, such as signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), signal-to-clutter (SCR), Doppler speed, frequency difference (DFD), magnitude (DMR). Our findings show that all drone were stronger than those Specifically, DFD DMR values pusher below 100 Hz 0.3, respectively, which much smaller 200 0.8 for The weaker more stable study demonstrates potential modulated improving detection identification radar.

Micro-Doppler radar signatures for intelligent target recognition

Mechanical vibrations or rotations (micro-motion dynamics) of structures on a target may introduce frequency modulation on the radar return from the target’s body. The modulation due to this vibration or rotation is referred to as the micro-Doppler (m-D) phenomenon. In this report, the m-D effect is introduced and the mathematics of micro-Doppler signatures, induced by simple sinusoidal vibrati...

Developments in target micro-Doppler signatures analysis: radar imaging, ultrasound and through-the-wall radar

Target motions, other than the main bulk translation of the target, induce Doppler modulations around the main Doppler shift that form what is commonly called a target micro-Doppler signature. Radar micro-Doppler signatures are generally both target and action specific and hence can be used to classify and recognise targets as well as to identify possible threats. In recent years, research into...

Classification of ground moving targets using bicepstrum-based features extracted from Micro-Doppler radar signatures

In this article, a novel bicepstrum-based approach is suggested for ground moving radar target classification. Distinctive classification features were extracted from short-time backscattering bispectrum estimates of the micro-Doppler signature. Real radar data were obtained using surveillance Doppler microwave radar operating at 34 GHz. Classifier performance was studied in detail using the Ga...

Analysis of micro-Doppler signatures - Radar, Sonar and Navigation, IEE Proceedings -

Mechanical vibration or rotation of a target or structures on the target may induce additional frequency modulations on the returned radar signal which generate sidebands about the target’s Doppler frequency, called the micro-Doppler effect. Micro-Doppler signatures enable some properties of the target to be determined. In the paper, the micro-Doppler effect in radar is introduced and the mathe...

Joint Time-frequency Analysis of Radar Micro-doppler Signatures from Aircraft Engine Models

Micro-Doppler signatures from four CAD aircraft engine models and one experimental engine model are analyzed using joint time-frequency analysis (JTFA). The signatures are obtained from shooting and bouncing rays (SBR) simulation for the CAD models and from measurement for the experimental model. The JTFA results give additional useful physical feature information regarding the respective engin...
